From: radman@acid.org (RaD Man [ACiD Founder]) Subject: [PROPOSAL] alt.art.hirez Date: 22 May 1998 00:00:00 GMT Message-ID: <35651238.1139566830@3com.news.internex.net> Reply-To: radman@acid.org Organization: ACiD Productions (http://www.acid.org) Newsgroups: alt.config Comments: I'm Christian Wirth the proponent for alt.art.hirez. I am submitting this proposal for your comments. alt.art.hirez will be a forum for both participants and enthusiasts of the high-resolution digital art scene to discuss scene related topics. For your newsgroups file: alt.art.hirez An agora for hirez scene artists and enthusiasts. Charter: This newsgroup will provide a common ground for hirez artists and enthusiasts to exchange ideas, tricks, techniques, and general know-how. Additionally, alt.art.hirez will serve as a place to discuss the hirez scene itself, to share views on it's current state and where it's headed, as well as a forum for debate on styles and practices, and a platform for launching new groups and releases. Off-topic discussion would be anything that is related to non high-resolution graphics, such as ANSI or ASCII (text-based) art. Software piracy conversation of any sort, even related to graphics applications software would be explicitly intolerable as well. This is NOT a binaries group. This will be an unmoderated newsgroup. Justification of Readership: Since 1992 the hirez artscene has been growing at an rampant rate. One of the premiere websites for showcasing such hirez artwork, http://artpacks.acid.org, is now receiving over 8000 hits a day, sending 2 gigs of data a day. Many visitors have communicated a sincere interest in reading and participating in such a group. The few e-mailing lists that exist related to the hirez scene are exclusive to 'members only'. IRC channels such as #hirez, #photoshop, #acid, #avenge, #blade, #cia, #dark, #fire, #ice, #mist, and #rca have all expressed an overwhelmingly strong interest in this newsgroup as well due to the inherent benefits of a newsgroup over relay chat, such as the ability to read and reply to posts at ones leisure, keeping up on the newest discussion thread without having to be on-line at 'peak' hours, and so on... Thank you for considering this addition to the alt.art.* hierarchy. Regards, Christian Wirth -- RaD Man % ACiD Productions Founder % Artpacks Archive Maintainer http://www.acid.org - Members pages, contact information, releases & more. http://artpacks.acid.org - Over 1.2gigs of ANSI, ASCII, RIP and hirez art.
