ANSI Codes for Terminals and Terminal Emulation. ANSI codes are used for control of terminals emulating the ANSI standard. The ANSI standard is now used on many BBSs to make the output prettier, and to enable use of full screen editors, which is not possible without some way of positioning the cursor if one of the arrow keys is pressed. The output from a terminal when a cursor key is pressed is the same as the cursor movement codes, with Pn either equal to one or missed out entirely. DEFAULTS: The commands default to the most common-sense Pn, which is different for each code. Erase codes default to 0, and cursor movement codes default to 1. This is a list of ANSI codes found in an SCO Xenix manual. The manual quotes ANSI X3.64-1979. This listing may be or may not be complete. (20/6/90).
